Busy Worker Bee

Friday, June 14, 2019

Woah its been like a month and a half since I last blogged! That's crazy! I started some blogs since then but kept getting busy and not finishing them :( Well, let's update.

emoticon My knee hurts.
I haven't been running. My hip started hurting after the Mud Hen 8K back in April. This eventually lead to knee pain and now everything from hip to knee hurts. It is from an angry muscle and/or bursitis in my hip. It is just making my walk funny and unable to run. I haven't been great at doing my stretches but I need to! I have a race next weekend so I need to figure this out! Since then though, I ran the NJ 10 Miler and the Ken Wayland 5K. Both were fun races with my running club. I am really enjoying having a team to be with for races and long runs!

emoticon Weight & Tracking
I started tracking my food this month but only made it a week. Still working on that habit! I know it helps me be more aware, even if I'm not planning as much. I really want to lose some weight. For me though, I think exercise is more critical than the food. I can't stand feeling undernourished from the lack of calories. It's all about balance though.

emoticon Yesterday was my birthday!
Rob and I went to dinner and the boardwalk. Nice and relaxing!

Speaking of my birthday, I got a paddle board! I am sooooo excited. I love being around the water. I like going to the beach but I get bored just sitting there. I used to surf so paddle boarding seems like the next logical step. Now I can be active and around the water and enjoying the sun! I hope to get a chance this weekend to take it to the lake ::fingers crossed::

emoticon Work Stress
Work is really crazy right now. We're starting a huge test next week and its been crazy to prep for it (I'm the lead for the project). I've been working a lot of extra hours. We have every other Friday off now (you work 9 hour days Monday through Thursday to make up for the Friday off) but it doesn't feel like that 1 day relieves any of the stress. If anything, I feel more stress because I have people working and they might need something. I've gone in on my day off a few times already. Sigh.

emoticon Chicken update!
One of our chickens is sitting on eggs so we're going to have baby chicks soon!! She has 9 eggs so we should get quite a few. We need to work on the coop a bit to get ready. So excited!

emoticon Summer plans
I am basically going to be working like crazy and won't have any time to take off :( Sounds like I might even travel for work too. I need to start training for my half marathon in September (ahem, two half marathons because I signed up for another one because I have no self control and major FOMO). So its all about relaxing to relieve work stress and rehab-ing my hip/leg.

Well, that's really it for today. Lots going on! I will try to make sure I update more often. I miss you all :)

Sorry to hear about your hip/leg. I hope you can figure it out. Crazy work, but if other workers know it is your flex Friday, then check in with them on Thursday and try to turn off on your day off! :)
that's cool about the chicks.. My daughter would be jealous. WE got 2 new chicks a few weeks ago and they are growing well. We live in the city, so no roosters allowed (have had to rehome 2 roosters we raised from 3 day old chicks at two different years... really hoping these two are both females (supposed to be female)).

Well, Happy late Birthday! Hope you have a great weekend, glad you had a nice relaxing birthday.

Now, track that food! :) I have to do the same.

Hugs. Life, work, and concentrating on weight loss can be overwhelming. Start with small goals. Example: making a choice to add more vegetables to your diet for the next four weeks. Then make another small change once you have met the first goal.

Hope your knee and hip pain subside soon.
