Dealing with joint pain...

Friday, June 14, 2019

I'm retired... I live in a retirement community where there are lots and lots of activities... mostly golf.

I've been using the game of golf to provide my exercise. I've been walking Executive Courses (smaller than standard courses) a couple of times per week for quite a while.

Lately, in the last 6 months, my knee has been bothering me. I toss it up to being a senior citizen, YUK. I have a doctor's appointment scheduled, but it has to wait until I get back from my summer vacation. This vacation comes first because I'm returning to my hometown and planning to see lots of old friends and family.

As I look for ways to exercise without putting too much strain on my knee, I'm going to try riding my bike, since walking/jogging seem to put pressure on the bad knee. Anyway that's my goal for next week. To incorporate a bike ride at least 3x in the next 7 days.

It seems like such a simple goal, but I'm not going to fool myself anymore... I'm putting this activity on my calendar AND my reminders to tell myself how important it is to MOVE.

I saw the title of your blog appear on the Eat to Live team so thought I'd come over and read your blog...

I also posted a comment on a few of your previous posts.

Good for you for coming up with a plan to get your exercise even if your knee is bothering you. I hope the doctor's visit will shed light on the pain.
Do join in the new exercise challenge I just posted on the Eat to Live team, it's the third sticky topic on the 'General dissuccions' forum. It will be fun and good motivation to work on getting the exercise together with your team mates!
