I have been a low-fat vegetarian for over 60 years until very recent. It all started this year, I got AFIB from taking a decongestant for what I thought was bronchitis. Then that went into Congestive heart failure which is fluid in your lungs and heart not strong to pump it out. Also then I started getting IBSD. So I wasn't absorbing iron etc. I wasn't absorbing the protein zinc other minerals from my food. I became very anemic. Decided to try the Medeterrean Diet. I didn't want the chicken and other meat that went with it, vegetarian too long. Ran accros an article on the Prescatarian diet and decided to try that. Probable spelled that all wrong. Anyway is vegetarian with fish. I have been eating fish for about 6 weeks now and seems to be the way for me to go. My red blood cell count is up 1 1/2 pts, also Hemocrit up. I try to eat a little fish every day, sometimes tuna, salmon, shrimp or sardines.
To make along story short, this just goes to show how one thing can effect a lot of others. emoticon

    There's nothing wrong with eating fish and being Pescatarian! I eat fish also, maybe twice a month but I do eat it. I want to go vegan and am really wondering if that is wise given my health problems. Everyone should go with what is right for them. I just want to eat MORE vegan meals.

    I definitely understand that our dietary needs change as we age; it sounds as if you are on the right track with eating small amounts of fish! emoticon
