12 6 19 what makes you happy

Wednesday, June 12, 2019

In an odd frame of mind today. I wanted to post in my team challenge on the thread '3 things that make me happy' and I'll be darned if I could come up with anything that I really, really am happy about.

There are lots and lots of little things that make me smile and appreciate life. My dog sitting by me, the soft feel of her fur, flowers in bloom, the scent of lilacs and freshly mowed grass, snow on the mountain peaks against the blue sky.

There are things I'm grateful for. A job with interesting colleagues and projects, a house to live in, two good legs to take me walking, good friends and family, a plentiful source of food, reliable transportation.

But what makes me really happy these days? I have to think about that. Small, in-the-moment things like a good ride on my horse or hearing the meadowlarks sing their thrilling songs, warm sun on my face - these things make me happy when they occur. What big things make me happy? That one of my parents is still alive and relatively healthy, there is a new baby in the family who is thriving and bringing much joy to her parents and grandparents, that there is still much life to be lived, places to explore, and new experiences to be had.

What makes you happy? The little things? The big things?

Love your blog. Makes me feel warm & happy thinking of those things. You hit it right on the nail with me.
As I have gotten older, I appreciate things, both small & big, a lot more. I find new things to appreciate every day. emoticon

A lot of these same things...a good job, my health, my family. To add though: a good book, PBS Newshour and the smell of rain.
