I’m looking forward to washing the floor!

Wednesday, June 12, 2019

I’m very near the end of the tunnel. I think I may be able to take two days off this weekend - first time in nearly three weeks. I love my job, but I’m beginning to really look forward to retirement in a year and a half. I often ask myself if I’m feeling more tired because of age, or because DH is able to do less than a couple of years back, or both, or whether I’m just imagining I’m feeling my age just because of the number. I used to want to continue part-time after retirement but I’m beginning to think .....”Nah,” I’d rather join my friends on long hikes whenever I feel like it.

You know what I’m most looking forward to when I get a day off? Washing the floor. It’s disgusting me!

Not “Cry.” I just like the picture!

Hope you are enjoying a sparkling clean floor.
Long hikes with friends are delightful. Part-time work keeps those grey cells active.
You'll decide when the time comes.

I think the consensus in your comments is: retirement is a very good thing!! I am NOT retired so just don't know . . . but I am sure you will figure out what is best for YOU!!

Oh Margaret! I can so relate to dirty floors! And doesn't it feel good when you can finally get down there and scrub them clean? Especially in Japan, where we're barefoot and can feel every little thing that falls. I'm reading this a few days after you wrote it, so I hope you're enjoying wonderfully clean floors this Saturday morning!

Shhhh. Don't tell anyone. I like housework. After all - everything here is something I loved enough to bring into my life - why wouldn't I want to caress and care for it?

    You will love retirement.

    I like the picture too!

Awesome to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You've worked long and hard. It would be wonderful to join friends for long hikes when you feel like it.

You still have time to decide what will suit you more . . . retirement or full time. I think working and caring for your DH just makes you feel a little older. I took care of my parents for 2 hrs. (and gladly did so), but it does get fatiguing!

    HUGS to you.

They say "be careful what you wish for", part-time may suit you more than you know.
It'll give you a focus and keep you in contact with a circle of co-workers whose company you presently enjoy

On the other hand TOTAL FREEDOM can be just as fulfilling-the endless maintenance of the house and garden. emoticon

pulling you leg. I LOVE being able to what I want to do 24/7/365.

Enjoy your weekend Margaret you SURELY have deserved time off for good behaviour emoticon emoticon

I love retirement, although it doesn’t feel like it at the moment with all of the renovations on our Carcassonne apartment.... happy work this though...

I have noticed that my kitchen floor needs cleaning more often now that we have adopted our new dog. It has been a wet spring, so lots of tracking inside. It feels good to get it done though! Retirement has been great! I still do the occasional part-time job, and it just makes me remember how much I LOVE being retired!
