TOPS Today!

Tuesday, June 11, 2019

I saw CERIUSLY posted that she went to a TOPS meeting. It's something I considered before, so today is the day. Thanks for breaking trail Ceri.

My friend's husband passed away this month. Last night we had her and her out of town guests over for dinner. It was such a pleasant evening to sit outside and chat before dinner. The 3 ladies are all cheerful, height/weight proportionate, active and in their 80's. They walked a few blocks to get here and back. They are aging successfully!

I tried a chicken new recipe last night. It was tasty and easy enough to make, no breading so calorie smart. www.recipetineats.com/wp

It even has a video tutorial www.recipetineats.com/ov

"Intermittent Fasting = No Evening Eating" is my new goal. This is low hanging fruit for me, as I usually don't eat in the evening, but sometimes when I wake up during the night I will eat. I am not sure what I will do when I wake during the night, but I have to do something differently.

My Fitbit Ionic died. This is the second Fitbit this year! My Charge 2 had a broken face, and twice the strap broke. I love Fitbit, but am pissed that this happens.

That was so thoughtful of you to host your friend and her visitors for dinner, and I would guess it gives some comfort to her friends to know she has support close by.

I made your chicken recipe the other night (using boneless, skinless chicken thighs, with thyme and marjoram as the herbs), and both my husband and I gave it a two-thumbs up. As long as the oven was going, I also roasted small carrots from the farmers market. We had round two for dinner tonight (still delicious), and there's still enough for DH to make a chicken sandwich for his lunch tomorrow. A new, easy chicken recipe is always welcome. Thank you for posting the link!

I think you will like TOPS Lynn. I was a member and chapter leader for 12 years before I went back to work in 2002. I went back to the same chapter and it felt like home. I plan to suggest some of our great LTGL activities as incentives for my group.

I love my Fitbit but I am considering trying a new tracker I got my Mom. Heart Healthy. It's one of those free things you pay $10.00 shipping for, emoticon It's actually really nice. The feature that appealed to me was the BP monitor.

I’m on my fourth Fitbit in about ten years. They usually stop keeping their charge after about two and a half years, apart from my first one, that I lost.....

WOOHOO on the ladies!! Indeed something I WANT to continue to do til the day they put me in the oven!!

Why cremation? I'll finally have a HOT SMOKING BODY!! emoticon

Gotta laugh, life can be to serious!

Hope they replace your fitbit, thinking they absolutely will.

My Mom went to TOPS, but LOL afterwards they'd all go out and eat PIZZA!!! So she didn't lose, but!! She also did NOT Gain!!

When I get up at night and I do 1 to 2 times, I'll take a bite out of sharp cheese if I am truly hungry (otherwise I'll wake up!) but, if not truly hungry I'll drink a little sparkling lime flavored water. YUMMY!!

I had an early model Fitbit that literally came apart at the seams. It was still under warranty and the company replaced it with a Fitbit One.which I Have been wearing close to 24/7 since and it's been about 5 years now. Its battery is starting to die, needing charging about every 7 days instead of close to 10 days as it was in the beginning. The only problem I've had is trying to get it to sync with Windows 10.

I suggest that you contact the company to see if they will replace your unit.

I got a less expensive tracker on Amazon. It sadly does not sync with Spark People. It syncs with my phone! Nite time eating is seriously a habit .I know! I analyze .am I really hungry or is it just I am used to eating before bed! Water & sleepy time tea, good hints.

I have yet to get on the fitbit bandwagon but as with any technology I have it is a love/hate relationship ~ love it when it works and hate it when it doesn't. Hopefully you will get a replacement.

I have never been to a TOPS meeting however as long as you mesh well with the other members I can see where it would be beneficial. Never hurts to try a meeting or 2 to test the waters.

I am all signed up and ready to go for the 5% Summer Challenge.

My mom attended TOPS for years. I didn't care for the pig pen.

I belong to TOPS years ago, and did get to KOPS, and then our club folded and it didn't take long for me to gain it all back. I wish there was one around here again, it really does help.

I love Fitbit. Heidi got a hold of my Fitbit Zip and chewed the crap out of it. I e-mailed customer service and they gave me a discount for a new one. I chose the Fitbit Flex 2 after researching all the models. You don't see your number of steps on the screen but it has lights and when you hit 9,000 steps it vibrates with all sorts of colors flashing. The really neat thing about this model I can swim with it. You just have to make sure you set it up with your dashboard. I forgot to do that this past summer so I manually inputted my swimming. Good luck finding a new one - try customer service before buying one. Before I go to bed I usually have a cup or warm Sleepytime tea. Then I brush me teeth and I know I will not put anything further in my mouth since my teeth are clean. Hopefully this tip helps - I know it helps me. hugs, emoticon emoticon

Fitbit is really good about replacing a watch. Have you contacted them?
    Good luck with the TOPS

I have heard good things about TOPS. It's so nice that you had your friend and her guests over. They sounds like good role models. If I get up in the night I drink some water. I have a Charge 2 but don't think it is all that different than the Charge I had before.

So sorry to hear about your Ionic! You haven't had it very long. I hope they replace it for you.

I've heard of TOPS meetings. I'm curious as to what your experience is when you go.

I wish I had a solution for the nighttime eating. I usually try to drink water, thinking it's thirst. Sometimes it works. Good luck!
