It was probably the chocolate...

I'm up a little bit this week, just under half a pound. I didn't get in the exercise or steps that I could have. I skipped my short morning workouts every day (!) and didn't walk home from the neighboring train station even once (blaming that on the weather.) However, I was reminded as I stood frowning at the scale of the 30/70 rule of weight loss – that our weight loss journey is 30% exercise and 70% eating.
This week was a good example of that for me. Even though I was lacking in the exercise department, it was really the eating that caused the gain. That said, the two factors really need to be in sync. I can’t draw a strict line between the 30 and the 70 (or 20/80 as some people propose):
When I eat too much, I don’t feel much like exercising. If I eat the wrong things or not enough or at the wrong time, my workouts can turn into an ordeal instead of something fun and invigorating. If I eat too much chocolate, I want MORE chocolate.
Since I quit the Coke Zero four months ago (yay!), my desire for sweets has really gone down. It doesn’t mean I never indulge but, when I do, I need to stay aware of the fact that it doesn’t end with the piece of cake or dish of ice cream. My brain and my body WILL want MORE.
This week I’m resolved to say no more often, or, in the immortal words of Grumpy Cat (sorry to hear of her passing a few weeks ago!)
What do y’all think about that 30/70 thing
