Seven years almost Eight walking

Yesterday at 5:30pm I hit another walking milestone. I hit 11,000 miles I've walked since July 24, 2011.
When I started I never thought I would hit 1000. I'm hooked on tracking my miles. I have log books of my daily walks. There are several apps to help you track my miles. The first I used was mapmywalk. Now I have a gear fit and track using my Samsung health app.
Some days were disappointing and difficult where I only got .25 miles in. It bothered me but I realized that I was ahead of someone who sat around and didnt walk, run or jog. A few of my miles were jogging. Unfortunately that increased pain levels too much. So I've stuck with walking. The most I walked in one day was 23 miles. A one time thing as my health has gone down since then.
I don't walk fast at times but I'm out there. I have had funny things happen walking like my son's uncle pulled me over for walking too fast last month. He's the fire chief and has lights and siren on his truck. I heard the siren and wondered what was going on. Turned around and he yelled I'm pulling you over. We laughed.
Just the other night my brother and best friends yelled as I walked by to slow down I was walking too fast. I was tired and trying to finish up.
I've been encouraged by people I see on my walks too. Plus I get a lot of encouragement from my Spark friends.
My original goal was to walk around the center of the earth. According to one source it's 24,901.45 miles. I thought no way will I even get halfway. Yet here I am at 11,004 miles. I've completed the Appalachian trail virtually five times using different mileage tracking. I'm on my sixth trip. I used walking4fun.com to track it twice. While doing the AT I've walked other trails too.
In real life I've walked trails on the AT, the Mountain to Sea and another trail. Plus trails in the Smoky mountains and along the Blue Ridge Parkway and in many other parks. Plus lots of beach walks in Florida.
Join me in tracking your walks, jogs or runs. Here's to seeing where I go next. I'm currently also doing the Colorado trail. Hoping to find some areas where I walked back in the 70s and 80s.
Thank you for stopping by.
