Goals & Gratitude 6/4/19

Wednesday, June 05, 2019

Last night, as I was laying in bed half-asleep, I got a call from a good friend. She's a hairdresser and has been looking for a job for a couple of months. She got a call from a salon for an interview and needed a model in the afternoon. I haven't had my hair cut in about 6 months so I said of course I would come. So I rearranged my schedule today. I did homework in the AM then headed over to the salon in the PM. When I got there, I could tell she was really stressed. She had been texting me and saying that the manager was really controlling and kept telling her what to do. She has been a stylist for several years. She is not a veteran, but she is also not a novice. She felt really insulted. The manager left for several hours in the middle of the day without telling her, so she got behind and had to wait for the manager to get back before she could continue with another friend's hair. When I got there, she had just started a ballyage (I don't think that's spelled right) on this friend's hair. She had me wait and luckily I had my e-reader with me. I waited about an hour, then told her I needed to leave to go to the market and she said that was fine. She said she has another interview tomorrow and she will have me model for that salon next week, if she gets a second interview, which I sincerely hope she does. I drove my hairdresser friend home from church tonight, and she told me all about this salon. She does not want to work there. She said with everyone else telling her what to do she would go crazy. There's helpful advice, but this was not that. I hope her interview tomorrow is much better!

Needless to say, I only got through a little bit of homework today. I managed to finish my reading for the week, but that's all. I had hoped to start my project, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. After the salon visit, I went to the market and then to church. We had our last Pascha (Easter) service of the year, as tomorrow is Ascension service. I love the Paschal music, so I will miss it until next year.

Tomorrow's Goals:
1) Do some house cleaning (finish dishes, laundry and unpack, clean coffee table).
2) Start my final project.
3) Do the final exam for Business Ethics.
4) Do the flashcards for Cost Accounting.

Today I'm Grateful For..
1) A lovely liturgy this evening.
2) That I now have a nice full fridge for this week.
3) That I got to talk to my friend today.
