Keto day 1 and 2

So, i've been researching the keto diet for months and months now. I almost gave it a try a handful of months ago but I allowed myself to be talked out of it. And, I continued on trying to do weight watchers. And, I made no real progress. I lost some pounds, gained them back, lost them again, gained a couple back. Basically the same old song and dance. I already cannot eat gluten so that has cut out a LOT of unhealthy foods BUT there are plenty of gluten free replacements that are high carb and high calorie. So, I just decided that the old saying 'if nothing changes then nothing changes' applies to this situation. I started the Keto diet yesterday.
I'm doing healthy keto as opposed to lazy or dirty keto. I cannot live on cheese and meat alone, I'd be miserable. So, I am very well stocked on the veggies and berries that I am permitted to have. Low carb/low glycemic fruit and veg. Thankfully, brocolli, greens, and mushrooms, are all great to enjoy. Those are my favorites. Cherry tomatoes are ok also(all in moderation). And, the days when I have the carbs to spare I will enjoy some other in season fruits that I love...watermelon! I have committed to doing this for a month at least. That way I get past the 'feeling like crap' stage and into the 'bountiful energy and clear thinking stage' so I give it a fair shake. Oh, I can have cabbage also. yum. Anyway, I may end up feeling miserable about the whole ordeal but I am very curious about what my body does during this 30 days. I've seen a lot of people have amazing results and the people I know personally who have had mediocre results are still way better than what they ever accomplished with traditional dieting. So, we shall see what happens. I do not plan on being keto for a long time. My plan is to transition from keto into paleo-ish. Which is a very well rounded healthy lifestyle. I say 'ish' because I will eat gluten free grains and some dairy. But, keto will kick my sugar addiction and get me off of the up and down glycemic ride.
This could all blow up in my face, lol. But, we shall see. And, please if you read my blog, don't leave nasty comments about keto. I know the bad as well as the good, i'm in good health other than having some weight to lose(not an excessive amount). 30 days isn't going to do me in. I plan to have my blood tested at the 30 day mark also to see what's going on with my cholesterol levels. But, i am mainly concentrating on healthy fats. Avacado, coconut oil, avacado oil, olive oil, nuts and seeds.
So, day one went very well. I am tracking my macros with an app called carb manager. I hit all my macros darn near perfectly. I had a ton of energy but my body is still using the stored glucose in my liver. I did a good workout and I drank a lot of water. I also drank a sugar free gatorade at bedtime because I was getting a slight headache. The veg that I had on day one was kale, cabbage, lettuce, cherry tomatoes. So far I haven't been dying for sugar.
Day two is today and it's only 10:22 in the am. But, I had some sauteed spinach and mushrooms in my scrambled eggs, along with a couple strips of bacon. I doubt I put spinach in my eggs again because it was pretty overpowering. The dog ate half of it. lol. I think for dinner I will put a pork tenderloin roast in the crockpot with some broth and herbs. I can make the family mashed potatoes and I can have some mashed cauliflower(I bought a couple frozen mashed cauliflower side dishes for convienience). Oh, I can also have asparagus and I love that. I may grill up some of that to go with my mash.
Anyhoo, I'm hoping I don't get the keto flu tomorrow but it may happen. I'm trying to eat the things that are supposed to combat that and I take a good multivitamin before bed. So, fingers crossed.
