Starting on Saturday, May 25, 2019 the free yoga classes started back up at the river. This is the 10th year they have been offering this from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I just found out about it last year and I fell in love with the venue and yoga.
Over the Winter/Fall I have been doing yoga in my bedroom along with Adriane (on YouTube). She is awesome but there is something magical about getting out with other people, breathing fresh air and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
I was so excited for this to start that I just could not wait. I asked my step-daughter (14 years old) if she wanted to go with me. I figured it would be a good time for us to spend together and we could both use the exercise. She said yes and was excited to go.
The class runs every Saturday from 10 AM to 11 AM until Labor Day Weekend. We arrived about 9:50 AM and we got the very last stop in the parking lot. Walk across the street, set up our mats, took in the scenery.
When the class stared my step-daughter proceeded to lay on her side and “took a nap.” I was not pleased with her. About 10 minutes left in the class she woke up and said “I’m hungry”. UGH!
As for me, I had a great class. The teacher was awesome and I only had to take 1 or 2 small breaks. I did much better than I did last year at this time. So I guess a year of yoga has paid off for me.
Week 2 – I told my step-daughter she was not allowed to come. I went by myself, got there about ½ hour early and had no problem getting a parking slop. I talked to some of the women sitting around me and it was a great class. Lots of ups and downs, so I needed more breaks than week 1 but I still did very good. Each week there is a different teacher – so you get to experience different techniques and teaching styles.
I am looking forward to going to every class. Oh and I found out there are going to be offering Wednesday night classes every other week staring on June 26th. I may take 1 Saturday off to have a yard sale at my house (but that’s still up in the air). Last year I took half of July and all of August off to work in my yard, but this year I’m going to work in the yard on Sunday….so I should not miss any Saturday classes (unless it rains and they get cancelled).
I love the classes and am very fortunate that such awesome program is offered in my area and to top it off – it’s FREE!!! They will not even accept any donations. Just awesome!
