Multi Tasking?

Saturday, June 01, 2019

More like multi thinking which cost me a peaceful sleep plus $75.

I have been "making hay while the sun shines" and cramming a lot into my days this week was a prescription for a mental lapse. After spending much of the week on my knees removing dead sod and weeds from along my driveway yesterday I had a full schedule. Grocery shopping (my fridge was EMPTY), delivering a full load of "stuff" to a charity yard sale for the Grannies of Kikima and then driving for an hour to the shop where my hubby and I bought our airtight fireplace. Last autumn the chimney cleaner suggested that my fireplace surround and mantle would not pass the fire code and if I chose to sell my home that issue would have to be rectified before I could list the property. Unfortunately he was right and the lovely maple woodwork my husband installed has to go :(. That of course got my mind racing and later in the afternoon while locking the garden shed after lawn mowing I realized too late that the only key for the shed was now on the shelf in the shed rather than in my pocket. emoticon Hence the $75, a service call this morning from a local locksmith. Lesson learned emoticon . Just as he was leaving a truckload of mulch arrived, 7 cubic yards to be spread this coming week. I have promised myself that will be the only task on my mind, onwards I go! Tomorrow will be a rain day, I will prep meals for the week ahead, get some spare keys cut and treat myself to some fresh produce at a local market.
Thanks to fellow Sparkers who have given me support for the past year; today is my first anniversary of maintenance! emoticon

I hope that you can save at least a piece of the woodwork that your husband created and preserve it in some way. It must be beautiful, apparently he was talented. You’ve mentioned that he was an artist, too.

When i get too busy and am preoccupied with thoughts, I tend to make mistakes like this, too. You had a rough day emotionally. Make sure to be extra kind to yourself and do something nice for yourself today. emoticon

I am so sorry that the maple woodwork needed to be removed . . . and I hope it can possibly be reinstalled after, or possibly used elsewhere in your home?

When I get distracted, with too much going on simultaneously . . . yup, that's when I do things like locking in the keys. But: I did that as a much younger woman too (I remind myself!)

Congrats on your 1 year weight loss anniversary: that's just great.

And: congrats on your sustained fitness that makes it possible to spread around all that mulch!!!

Maybe that special mantle can be a 'special shelf' somewhere else. emoticon
