Hello dear Spark buddies, how are you enjoying your spring? It is the end of autumn here in NZ and I am taking advantage of the mild weather to get as much cycling in as I can.
I am back at work after my holiday and have dismissed my chauffeur (DH) and instead I ride my ebike to work.
I live in a hilly place but I can quickly get to sea level down a very steep hill, then it is a gorgeous ride around the waterfront to work. That takes me 20-30 minutes depending on traffic and weather conditions , and the trip back is 3/4 hour to an hour right around the bays and up a slightly less steep but longer hill home. Much of the route is cycle paths and the rest is, quite frankly, terrifying.
But I burn about 600 calories and end up not sweaty at work and 🏡 not too sweaty. So
I wear my work clothes for these trips. I've never been a Lycra fan and at my age I prefer to look as seemly as possible...
As a returning cyclist I'm not so sure about riding in the rain. Any tips?
Yesterday I ordered a delivery of groceries to an eating plan we are trying out for a little while. Here's the site, it has a month of seasonal recipes (one free cookbook per season) that you can make for $nz60. https://lovefoodhatewaste.co.n

I was using a more expensive food service but since our house burned down we need to be more frugal. This plan feeds a family of four adults for five days. On the cook once eat twice method, that is lunch and dinner for the two of us for (theoretically) $60 per week.
Since I hate grocery shopping I'm shopping online. It was so quick! Five minutes on the computer making a list I can reuse next month.
This week I am getting food delivered, next week I will click and collect. Do any of you do click and collect? I figure by using a shopping service I can specify no plastic bags and they will put everything in a box. Then I can recycle the box. Mostly I reuse cardboard boxes by laying them down on my garden and topping with mulch to suppress weeds.
Anyway this morning I will be precooking some of the meals so when I get home tuckered out from biking home, dinner won't take long to prepare.
On the house front, nothing is happening. But we should hear something soon about the reinstatement plan. So, about February before we are back, I think. We still might end up camping on our lawn. Or inside the shell of our house.
Nil desperandum!
How are you going, Sparkies?

edited to add a link to the autumn recipe book, there's one for every season. https://lovefoodhatewaste.co.n

Fortunately I love food shopping. It satisfies my shopping itch without filling my closets or basement.

Food services like the ones you mentioned are pretty pricey in our area and in great demand, especially by the millennials, so I've not checked too closely. We live very close to several organic food stores and organic farmers' markets so spouse shops from my list (health issues keep me home most of the time). I prepare the meals and he does the cleanup -- works for us.

    Nice to hear from you!
I wish I could use a food service, DH is too picky. We do the same meals multiple days so it is a lot easier!
Black clothes work for me too; add splashes of color in accessories!
I hop the house repair continues with success!

Sounds like the meal plan you've chosen is just right for you. sorry that it's taking so long with the house. Frustrating.

    Wishing you luck.
