Goals & Gratitude 5/25/19

Sunday, May 26, 2019

I managed to get through a lot of homework today. I finished reading EVERYTHING for my research paper, so now I can sit down and start writing tomorrow. I didn't get to work on the homework for Cost Accounting, but I have two more days to do it, so I will work on it tomorrow after church. I also need to read for my Financial Statement Analysis project. I am writing a financial review of Barnes & Noble. Hint: they are not doing well. They have had net losses (rather than profits) three of the last five years. I am wondering how long they will last. At least it will be interesting to write about!

Besides that, the day was very quiet. I went to church this evening, then decided to go out to dinner to my favorite Mexican restaurant, El Sarape, which I haven't been to in a couple of months. I was shocked when I got there. It was packed! I asked my waitress what was going on and she said that today was their last night and they were closing. She said the building has been bought up and the new owners and planning on overhauling it for something else. Too bad! El Sarape has been there for 70 years. I don't know where I'll go for Mexican food now. The couple of other restaurants around me that I've tried I haven't really liked. A lot of them don't have very good salsa, and that's how I judge a Mexican restaurant. I will have to ask around and find a new restaurant.

Tomorrow's Goals:
1) Do at least half of the Cost Accounting homework.
2) Write at least two pages for my research paper.
3) Finish up the laundry.

Today I'm Grateful For...
1) That I got to El Sarape on their last day.
2) That I got through the confession line tonight. It's taken me three weeks of lining up for that to happen.
3) That the weather was nice today. It's supposed to pour tomorrow.

I hate to see Barnes and Noble close but young people today prefer to play games on their phones rather than read. Most of the people I see at the library are middle aged or seniors.

So many businesses are closing here including restaurants. We have mostly fast food here now. Our Sears, Kmart, Radio Shack, Peebles, Hallmark, Payless, Quiznos, Captain Ds, etc. all left. Yet we have 2 Burger Kings, 2 McDonalds, 2 Hardees, 2 Taco Bells in this tiny little town. We have 3 Subways as people are too lazy to even make themselves a lunch meat sandwich. My favorite Mexican restaurant left too and now we are left with crap.

I'm sorry to here about your fave Mexican place. Perhaps someone will open another one somewhere nearby. Looks like you're still working hard for school! I know you must be doing well.
Have a nice Sunday! And take some time for a walk, it helps clear the mind and get the blood flowing with oxygen to the brain!
