We live between 2 rivers. The first group of photos are from the farthest river, 7 miles south.
This is the vehicle parking lot with a boat ramp to access the river. You can see the "outhouse" in the distance.
This is the drive to the parking lot. This was taken Thursday afternoon. Late yesterday, the water covered the road and the road was closed.
This is a photo of the river that goes into our little town of 199. Yesterday was the last day of school and we were on our way to the awards assemble for DGD.
This is a corn field that now looks like a huge lake. The water had just reached the edge of the road making a large puddle as we drove into town.
After two hours at the school, the water was over the road and the state road crews were lowering the arms at the RR crossings and putting up barriers. We were the last of 3 cars they allowed to travel the road. That's the corn field in the background.
We have a third way to travel to access the necessities, but it now takes an hour to make a 20 minute trip. Heavy rain is predicted for our area over the weekend and most of next week.
If winter was stressful, summer is going to give it a run for its money.
If you reside in Missouri and are affected by all this, please stay safe.
