I am in a couple of SP teams. On one team this week, we need to write or blog why I am committed to MY journey to be healthy? This is something I need to commit to writing so I can go back and read it later when I forget!
My mantra is going to be "Do you REALLY want ______? Do you REALLY need ______? If I can say yes, then I will eat whatever I was questioning. But I will also log it and admit it and acknowledge and accept what I eat may not be great for me. I know if I say I can't have _____, it will only make me want it more. It will cause me to binge and fail!
But really, why am I on this journey? I hate, and I mean HATE the way I look! I HATE the way I get winded when I walk/hike with my family! But the most important reason, I need my health to get better! I am a type 2 diabetic. If I lose weight, I will lower my A1C. It has been as high as 7.2. At last look, it was 6.5. That is getting into pre diabetic levels. Will I be able to get off meds?
Will losing weight, lower my very high triglycerides? Will I be able have fewer bouts of hives? Lower heart burn? So many health issues. I don't know what will improve but I am sure some will. But just having clothes fit better is important.
I also like this quote on Commitment: . “Commitment is the little choices every day that lead to the final results we’re striving for.” Anonymous. This is so important to remember. It is the little steps that make me walk 100 miles. I can't do it in a day but over time.
