May 16, 2019 FEAR NO EVIL
It has been said fear is only False Evidence Appearing Real. Many times the fear we have is about something that hasn’t even happened. However, the fear is so strong it keeps us from getting out of bed or moving forward with our lives. We sometimes find ourselves worried or afraid of doing things we know we should do. Sometimes we let fear and worry keep us from doing God’s will. We have intentions of following the will of God but we stop short of doing it because we are worried or afraid. God wants us to turn to Him and follow His direction even when fear creeps in. He wants us to trust in Him so we can carry out His will and not be afraid.
Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (ESV)
1. Write out what you are afraid of.
2. List what is holding you back from doing God’s will.
3. Know God wants you to live in obedience to Him.
4. Pray asking Him to help you not be afraid.
Dear Lord, help us to not fear the things of the world – real or not real. Help us to remember You are with us in all things. Help us to remember You will give us Light that drives out fear – even when we are walking through hard times or dark shadows in life. Help us to not fear evil or what this world can do. Help us to know we can trust in You and find comfort in Your words and in Your arms. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Don’t be afraid. It is okay to be sad, to cry, etc. But God said don’t be afraid.
Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” (NLT)
God knows every step we should take and when we are afraid He wants to help us.
Psalm 142:3 “When I am ready to give up, he knows what I should do.” (GNT)
God wants us to have His gift of peace so we are trusting in Him and not worrying or afraid.
John 14:27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (NLT)
