Conquering Perfectionism

Saturday, May 11, 2019

Two days ago I entered into a challenge with myself which I call 'The 32'. If you've saw my feed post you know what it consists of: 3X/week hitting 8 of these workouts with each of them done at least 2X during the week. I just finished reading my previous post, 'Review', and feel great. I'll share why: Two days ago when I bust out the 32, I beasted through 7 challenges. They are done, completed fully, in the books, made history, fought through the uncomfort, and pain--done. With the eighth one (kickboxing), I busted my ass banging out 20 minutes on the heavy bag; I hit it hard too, not just love taps. For 4 minutes I did shadow boxing, some kicks thrown in as well, this totaled 24 minutes which is 8 shy of my 32. Yesterday I kept reminding myself to do the 8 minutes. Yes, I was tired and sore but I could have done them. Honestly, I really didn't want to. I LOVE kickboxing!!! Punching the bag is amazing and so soulfully pleasing but I was burned out. Those last 4 minutes were a push. And I'm no longer in the habit of making excuses to myself about myself. I was kickboxing/cardio boxing-ed out. So I didn't do the 8 minutes yesterday. Instead I slept last night. And, I even slept in today, almost 3 hours past my normal rising time. But you know what? I feel great! :). I'm smiling, the sun's shining, and I'm just so freaking happy! Therefore, I've resolved to not beat myself up, give me a hard time, or be harsh in the slightest. I worked hard and diligently to accomplish the challenges the day before yesterday. And for sincerely once, I'm going to enjoy the high of my full success and not sulk on the one incomplete thing. I fully completed 7 '32s'. And I couldn't be prouder of myself for doing so! This self love thing feels great and is starting to look good on me!!! Cheers all and thanks for reading! :) --------------------------

------------------ On a side note, I weighed in this am at 274.2 which is 2.8lbs less than the last time I weighed in. Yes, I will call that a win! :)
