Where I am now and why I am back on Sparkpeople

Thursday, May 09, 2019

Whereas I love SPARKPEOPLE, and especially my dear SparkFriends, emoticon it can just gobble up so much time! emoticon

I love my life as a trucker's wife and enjoy being on the road with him, though that has been cut back a good bit due to knee surgery 3 years ago, then sciatica and spinal stenosis this past year. I gained up to 183 with that setback but am back to 168 which is "only" 4 pounds from a healthy BMI. I also got a pre diabetes diagnosis in February: A1C of 6 up from 5.7 the previous year. The Diabetes Educator told me this week that I am most likely out of pre-D now, based on my fasting blood glucose numbers BUT the challenge of really learning how to manage my diet makes my head spin sometimes! emoticon

Part of my motivation for posting this blog is having gone through my old blogs from 2009 to present where it became obvious that trying to encourage others was a big part of my success in those challenging times and kept me accountable as well. I had been a Weight Watcher and First Place 4 Health leader for some time and missed the interaction with others seeking a healthier life. It is good to be able to be in a place where you are not considered a health nut or a fanatic simply because you choose strong and healthy aging. (I will be 70 in July!) emoticon

My thanks to everyone who passes by here! Keep your courage to press on and encourage others to do the same! emoticon

And for my Christian friends,

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"
~

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."
~

Good to hear from you again. I'm sorry you had those health problems these past few years. I hope they are done and gone now. We can't stop the aging process but we can sure make it either fun or frustrating - based upon our choices. Good for you for choosing to come back.

And yes. SP does take up a good bit of time. I try to hold it down to just the mornings - but I hear ya. It's awfully nice, though, to have a place to talk about healthy choices without sounding like a nut case.

Welcome back. Thanks for stopping by.

Glad to see you back. Congrats on your weight loss, getting back to healthy ways.
I agree social media can take a lot of time. That is why I started with a timer so I would get off after a certain amount of time. Now I got on in the morning a bit in the afternoon and evening. Helped me lots.
Yes, let's keep pressing on, our health is worth it. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I too was recently diagnosed with prediabeties. I do not want to get that so I am losing weight. I really hope my weight and food changes will help that A1C go down to a normal level.
