It’s Always Something

Monday, May 06, 2019

I opted to change my own locks and I saved myself $185. But, there is always a catch.
When they put my old locks on my new doors, they stripped the screws on my deadbolts…
but as luck would have it…the new locks I bought from Home Depot have a serious flaw.

I bought a set of Kwikset Smart Key locks.
Apparently, as per a YouTube video review from a locksmith, they are easy to open.
{that will teach me to research my purchases ahead of time}
The selling point is they are pick resistant, bump proof, and have re-key technology which allows you to re-key the lock yourself in seconds (leaving lost or unreturned keys obsolete).
There is a video on YouTube
‘How to Open a Kwikset Smart Key Lock in 10 seconds Video by Mr. Locksmith’. emoticon
It annoys me that they have this info on the internet {AND that I did not see it ahead of time}. emoticon
Note to self: Do your homework BEFORE you buy. Consumer beware.

So my $50 purchase is 50% successful.
If I accidentally lock myself out, I can re-key the lock myself.

Today I'm making Garlic Shrimp over spaghetti squash with peas, grape tomatoes, and parmesan.
