April Goals Review and May Goals

Friday, May 03, 2019

I decided to take some time off from SP for April as well as the Aspire & Inspire Team I co-lead. I knew we'd be moving and that it would take time to settle in. I didn't want to have to stress about being on SP daily if I was in the middle of moving.

We got to move into the house 2 days before the end of the month. Unfortunately, we didn't get the keys until almost 2 in the afternoon. The husband of the couple that owned the house is a Sergeant, I think, in the army and he had to be in another state when they moved and the wife was trying to manage the household and 2 teenage kids moving to a new home just 10 minutes or so from here. Long story short she was pretty busy and her friend/realtor finally got us the keys about 15 minutes after 2 along with the garage openers. The cleaning lady and the carpet cleaners were there at the time. After getting the keys we went to rent a small U-Haul truck. We only rented it for a few hours so it wasn't too expensive. Loaded up the U-Haul with the 2 couches, bed frame, latex mattress, kitchen table and a couple of the chairs. A friend of ours helped us move everything into the house. We didn't get to move the mattress and frame upstairs to the bedroom until the next day. After bringing the U-Haul back, we got something to eat and then put as much stuff into the compact SUV to bring to the house. We were pretty well spent since we had spent that morning packing up more stuff. The next day, our friend came back over to help Randy move the bed frame and mattress upstairs and move the couches where we wanted them. The rest of that day was spent bringing boxes over to the new house. We mainly just brought our computers, desks and chairs over. We also had to go to Lowe's to get new blinds for the bedroom as well as our offices. We let the birds fly around the house and we don't want them to accidentally fly into a window not realizing there's a window there. Our first cockatiel did this when he got old. He, Chicken Little, flew into the glass on the door, broke his neck and died. emoticon We had to get a few other things too while we were at Lowe's.

Over the rest of the month we'd go back and pick up a carload of boxes and other things a couple of times a week. The week before last we went over one day and started cleaning it up as well as getting the rest of the stuff like plants pots, an old aquarium and other minutiae. We went over again yesterday and got it almost clean. We need to touch up one or two of the doors in the house with a little paint that was left in the rental house garage. We probably have 90% or more of the rental house cleaned.

So, my goals for April was basically to just get through it with as little stress as possible. I did my best to eat sensibly but the week we moved we pretty much just ate whatever. After that I tried to be cognizant of what I was putting into my mouth. I'd say I was between 60% and 75% good about what I ate. Having to pay rent along with our house payment and then utilities for both houses doesn't leave us with a lot of money at the end of the month especially when the rent is more than our house payment!! Needless to say, furniture shopping and decorating has been put on hold for now.

I did start going to the Y though. I've gone 2 days a week for 2 weeks in a row. This week I've only been once and probably won't get there tomorrow since I need to clean our house. Cleaned the rental house yesterday and today I had a dental appointment. Saturday we are going to a concert in Denver and Sunday we'll be resting for the start of a new week.

May Goals

Eating / Nutrition: Goal: Eat at least 4 - 5 servings of freggies each day and eat mostly according to the Fast Metabolism Diet. I need to get back to eating 3 meals a day every day. It seems as though the weekends are when we get up late and eat late. That seems to throw my days off and then we don't eat lunch.

Water: Goal: Drink 8 glasses of water each day. I was doing really well with this and now over the past week or 2 I've slacked off on this and haven't been drinking as much water as I should be.

Alcohol: Goal: Limit my alcohol consumption at home and when going out to eat. I want to limit my alcohol intake to no more than 1 day a week.

Exercising: Goal: Go to the Y a minimum of 3 days a week. When we moved I misplaced my combination lock and had to go buy a new one. Now that I have a new one I can walk to the Y and use the pool then walk home. Well, assuming that it's not below 60 degrees on those days. Hubby is using the Total Gym at home because he doesn't want to pay for a membership fee while we are having to pay rent, house payment and utilities on both houses so maybe I can drive over to the Y while he exercises at home.

Organized: I need to get many aspects of my life a little more organized. I think I'd feel better about myself and everything else if I could get organized. I swear I get a medical documents in the mail every couple of weeks it seems and it drives me crazy. I need to organize the medical documents, house documents,etc....

Hat tip to you! That's a lot! And it is one-time thing, so you'll not have all this every month.

Moving to a new house takes a lot out of you and gets you off of your regular routine for awhile. I am glad you are settled in now, and this month you can gradually get back to your regular eating and exercise schedules! I wish you a very successful May! emoticon emoticon

Now that you're settled (mostly) into your house, and will be in one place for the foreseeable future, I'm sure you will create an organization system that works for you. That's one of my summer jobs that I'm dreading too. I have "keep forever" documents in 4 different places and "should have been shredded" documents mixed in there too. I need to create one file drawer that is just the keep forever stuff and then get rid of everything else. I have a plan - but implementing it will be time consuming.

I'm so glad you got into your new house and I bet it's feeling like home even if you haven't been able to decorate or buy new furniture yet. It's so great that you are so close to the Y and that it has a pool.
