There's No Way I Can... is there?

I am proud of myself today. I met a goal I imposed on myself. But, even this morning I didn't think I would. Want to hear about it? read on. Otherwise just know we can do more than we think if we stick with it (it being whatever your personal goal is).
My work has a fitness plan that has a goal of 15,000 points per quarter. We are rewarded monetarily as we reach certain point goals (2,000, 5,000, 10,000 & 15,000) and each reward is larger than the one before. So some extra spending cash is on the line, but the only hard deadline is the end of the quarter.
I try to reach 5,000 points each month of the quarter. Now, I was lax (sick &/or lazy) for most of April. So I needed over 1,500 points to meet this goal at the beginning of last week (Mon, April 22). I thought to myself... "I'll never make it, so why bother." I needed over 200 points a day to make the goal and my usual average is about 100. But... I decided to go ahead and try to get as many points as I could so I wouldn't have as much to make up. Something is ALWAYS better than nothing. So for a couple of days I did more exercise. I made sure to read my tip cards and track my daily habits (points awarded for both totaling 70 points a day). I tried a new challenge that netted me an additional 15 points a day. And I started moving more. The highest points earner is steps/active minutes, not consistently though. But...
Yesterday I still needed over 500 points to reach my end of month goal and no morning exercise was done (I can get up to 140 points a day just for exercise). I again told myself that I can't reach my goal why bother. But then... last night...I decided to see how close I could get.
I did 45 minutes with LS after work (140 points - highest given per day). I did another 45 minutes with someone else on You Tube (don't remember her name, but really didn't like her routine as it was extremely repetitive over the 45 minutes) this morning. I did a few other daily pints grabs (like reading tip cards or tracking good habits) and I was only 25 points short! What?! How did that happen?!
So I thought, hmm... I wonder if I can squeeze out 25 more points today. The mobile app shows where you can earn more points and I found an easy 50 points. All I needed to do was start a challenge (it starts tomorrow, but I got the points today). So now here I stand. A... WINNER! I kept my commitment to myself. I am laughing at myself a bit for all the drama and that I went into the app to find more points this morning. I now start next month with a "bonus" 25 points that I don't have to worry about in the next 62 days.
The take away for me is to remember that SOMETHING is ALWAYS better than Nothing. That I can do more than I think and as my tag line states... Never Give Up! Never Surrender!
