My luck is still going strong.

the other night I accidentally knocked my mini food chopper off the counter and it died a valiant death.
It was 20+ years old...that's a record for one of MY appliances.
But last weekend I caught the tail end of a 'LOWEST PRICE OF THE SEASON' sale and ordered a Kitchenaid for 1/2 the normal price. Not bad.

Recently they replaced the doors in my condo and gave us the option of replacing the locks for an additional charge of $120. I didn't buy in.
But my locks are all scuffed up and I could use a new set for both doors.
So I added HOME DEPOT to my errand list and picked up 2 locksets for both of my doors.
At the checkout, the cashier asked me if I would like to get 50% off.
What was I going to say?...'No'?
Open an account and it's yours. Okay!
So I got 2 locksets for $50 total, and the peace of mind that no one else has my key.
That feels like a WIN to me.

Last week I bought BETTER THAT BOUILLON Lobster base (chicken base would work also)
and I have some frozen shrimp in the freezer.
Tonight I'm making Shrimp/Mushroom Marsala with baby portobellos
and a cup each of broccoli, sliced carrots, cauliflower.

In a skillet I'll saute
1/2 a chopped onion and a clove of garlic 1 tsp dried parsley, and 1/2 tsp of dried dill,
in 1 tsp of EVOO, 1 pat of butter, and a 1/4 cup chicken broth mixed with a tsp of BETTER THAN BOUILLON
until the onions are translucent .
Then I'll add 200 grams of sliced baby portobello mushrooms.

While that's going I'll steam my broccoli, carrots and cauliflower in a separate pot.

When the onion and mushrooms are done,
I'll make a slurry of 1 tsp cornstarch with 1 tbsp cold water and add that to the onion/mushroom pan with 1/4 cup of dry marsala .
I add the juice of 1/4 a fresh sqeezed lemon (be careful not to get the pits in the sauce)
Then I'll add my 8 large shrimp (shelled and cleaned)...for about 3 minutes.
When they're done I'll plate the shrimp marsala and the veggies.
And trust me any sauce left will go over the steam veggies.
