Who was yours?

Sunday, April 28, 2019

Mine was Mrs. Greenway. She was married to a farmer and would

bring in baby chicks, and ducks for us to see and pet for the day.

Once a year, she'd even bring in a baby pig for us to see...

And HEAR.... it sure did squeal a lot. emoticon

I don't remember my first grade teacher's name, but my sixth grade teacher was Mrs. Hager. Her twin sons appeared on Hee Haw. They came to school one day and gave us gum.

I'm sorry to say I have no clue as to who my first grade teacher was. I can see her in my mind, but the name eludes me, so I'm thinking she didn't make much of an impression on me. The teacher I do remember was my 7th grade teacher, Mrs. Brown. The teacher I definitely disliked the most was Mrs. Patterson, who was my 5th grade teacher. She used to dig her nails into you when she wanted to discipline you.

Lol! I grew up on a small farm and my dad raised pigs; I was his helper when we had to clip the tusks and give a spoonful of liquid iron to the day old piglets. They were so warm and squirmy and yes they squealed for mamma!
I was home schooled for Grade 1&2 so my first school teacher was in Grade 3. I will not name her, she was not the kind sort.

I can remember her name, and I get the feeling that I really liked her. But actual memories of her class are missing some how.

Mine was Mrs Lorch, and she was a tyrant, she had everyone scared to death, it was no surprise that we all hated school, especially for the introduction to school. We didn't have kindergarden so started right off in 1st grade. I don't know how many times I got my fingers wacked with a ruler, cause I dropped my pencil, and there was absolutely NO bathroom breaks except at recesses. I don't think now days she would last very long.

Mrs. Peterson. I can still remember the day she wrote the word "SOMETHING" on the board. I thought I'd NEVER learn a word that long!

It was my 4th grade teacher I remember.... she was not married but became pregnant... what a candle back then.. some of the kids went to other classes, there parents did not want them near her.. she left at the end of the school year never to be seen..
I always felt so sorry for her.. and wondered about the baby..

    Mine was Miss Gramaldi.
She was a young teacher or at least younger then most in the school and she wasn't a nun. Most of the teachers back then were nuns in the old habits where you only saw their face. Anyway, she wore a wig that she had made from her own hair. So some days her hair would be short and other days it wold be really long. I don't remember much else about her but I was fascinated by how her hair changed lengths from one day to another. She must have been asked by other kids because one day she told us all in class that on the days she had long hair, she was wearing a wig. I thought she was such a modern person by wearing a wig...I didn't know anyone else that did or perhaps that admitted to it.
