Day 122 - being in control

Tuesday, April 23, 2019

Today was a great day. Had our monthly catered office lunch. I did prep my brown bag, as I do nowadays.

Usually we have a quite nice spread - salad, bread, meats in gravy, some starch, rice, etc. sweets, etc. The last couple of months I seriously contemplated every time if I should partake and make that day the exception. If I got craving mid-morning, I would try to stay away and keep myself busy. I have always stayed the course and not given in, so that’s a plus. But there was always the feeling that I am missing out, that I deserve to dig in. (Up to me hitting the re-set button, I would not only partake, but usually go back for seconds and thirds, not able to hold a conversation, and then spend half of my afternoon chasing down leftovers.....).

Today was differnet, because I did not have any cravings, didn’t dread the lunch, didn’t even think about it once, just attended, sat through the lunch and then took my time, for me, to have my lunch I packed.

Yes, there’d be enough for me to chose from, salad, meats, etc.. Not the best choices, but I would make it work. Yet, I chose not to, for the time being. Things are going rather well, and I have stayed the course. I don’t feel deprived, don’t have FOMO if I don’t dig in at the buffet. I dont abstain to punish myself, but it actually makes me feel great if I make, and stick to, my choices. It feels great to be in control of my choices, and when a day goes really well, I make sure I stop, recognize it and celebrate it.

Super energized, super positive. This is my time!
