Goals & Gratitude 4/21/19

Sunday, April 21, 2019

It's been a while since I've blogged. It's been a crazy week and weekend. Last Thursday I drove to my Dad's house to see him and to take him to the doctor on Friday. Friday morning, Bright Star home health care came to the house. He doesn't really want their help right now, but at least he's in the system. We went to the doctor after that, and it was with his new GP. She seems very good. She spent about a hour with us, asking both of us questions and getting information. She said his muscle weakness and trembling could be one of three things: a compression of the spinal nerves in the back that showed up on his CT scan, the vitamin B12 deficiency, or Parkinson's. The back problem can't be helped, and luckily he has no back pain. The B12 deficiency can be fixed. And Parkinson's? I need to read more about it. Dad asked me to do some research on it, so I need to do that this week.

I drove home Friday night, but I didn't sleep Friday night. I laid in bed all night and worried. I know, I know, not a positive use of my time, but it's what happened. I did get up during the night and read in the hope that it would help, but it didn't. I went to church for Lazarus Saturday in the morning, then I ran errands, then I came home a napped for awhile. When I woke up, I felt a little better. However, I knew I was getting sick. Lots of body aches and a fever and cough. I slept really good last night and went to church this morning, but halfway through I came home because I felt so bad. I took my temperature when I got home and it was 101.2 degrees. I spent most of the afternoon in bed and now I'm just sparking and hoping the fever will break tonight. Today is Palm Sunday for us Orthodox and Holy Week starts tonight. I love all the services. If I don't have a fever at 6 pm, I will go (service starts at 7). But if I do, I'll stay home and maybe I can find a church that is live streaming the services. We'll just have to see how I feel. I do feel a little better now that I had something to eat.

Tomorrow's Goals:
1) Get caught up on Cost Accounting.
2) Read for either Business Ethics or Human Resources.
3) Do the laundry and straighten up the living room.

Today I'm Grateful For...
1) That I got my flu shot. I'm pretty sure I don't have the flu.
2) That I got to the beginning of church today, even if I didn't get to finish it.
3) That I have lots of clean jammies.

I am so sorry to hear that you are sick. It isn't surprising when you have been so stressed. I hope that you are feeling better today and able to enjoy Holy Week. It is nice to know that your dad has a doctor who is doing her best to get to the bottom of things. Sending warm hugs your way.

I hope your dad doesn't have Parkinson's. My dad had it but he lived a long life.
