just sayin’ … Happy Birthday and Happy Easter

Sunday, April 21, 2019

Hubby and DS#2 both celebrated birthdays this weekend. We all got together at their house. I easily said no to birthday cake. Not hard to do for me … I don’t like store bought cake. DIL has learned I always want salad so that was easy.

We colored eggs with the 3 g-kids and had a great time together and then hubby and I came back up the hill to home.

This morning … for the first time ever I didn’t get a chocolate Easter Bunny. Hubby didn’t get one either. Felt kinda sad actually.

Hubby asked if I wanted one several weeks ago … and I reply only if it was Dove dark chocolate or one of the new York Peppermint Pattie ones I saw. I asked him if he wanted one … he said he’d think about it.

We were in the store Friday and I asked again if he wanted one … and he said nah, he was good.

So, this morning there were none left by the Easter Bunny.

Elvira … my evil twin … is mourning the loss of a family tradition and screaming in my ear … we need a chocolate Easter Bunny. I hope she doesn’t get me in trouble today.

I feel your "pain". I stopped getting deliveries of Easter goodies from the bunny a few years ago.
Unfortunately this year a load of stuff arrived with the kids to make the hunt for the grand kids. I tossed most of the half filled bags this morning including whole Peeps! I can avoid the one bag left as it's not my thing and the kids will pick at it when they visit.
    Saved.

Now to package up the leftovers as healthy dinners before I start picking!

Focus on the positive in this situation. (I understand your mindset right now.)

You chose to not have the chocolate. Does that make you happy? How would you feel if you ate a little chocolate, a lot of chocolate?

The chocolate will always be there. You can always have it if you choose to.

Maybe your DH chose not to buy Easter chocolate eggs, because he knows it is important for you to work toward a healthy weight, and he wanted to support you, out of love?
If so, this may be start of a new tradition.
Or, you may come up with yet another one next year, maybe buying one absolutely delicious chocolate egg for you?

It's not the bunnies that get me, it's the Cadbury Creme eggs and their relatives. Sigh.

My DD gave us a lovely little bunny about 3 inches high. It was in a nest inside an Easter baggie. We took it out to share for lunch since it was just really a nibble each. IT WAS PLASTIC! She had put a wee note inside saying Happy Easter, Love You. Arrhgh! I should have known better. She gave up all things sugar over a year ago.
