So - I have been part of SparkPeople for more years than I can remember. No matter where life leads, I always come back here.
Over the last 6 months or so, I reached my highest weight ever - in my life - even including the times I was pregnant with my girls. I didn't hit 300 but was close enough that I thought I might. What really scared me was that I had been working out, following the Transform App from Chris & Heidi Powell and had gotten my weight down some before my daughter's wedding (in September).
But, I had plateaued for almost a year and gave up shortly after the wedding. Within 5 months, I put on about 35 pounds. I didn't really change what I was eating but I stopped exercising and tracking religiously.
Then, I discovered intermittent fasting in February. For the entire month, I built up to 16 hour fasts. I consistently met the 16 hour goal and often exceeded it. I began to feel amazing. I think more clearly, I don't feel as many aches and pains (caused by inflammation) and I feel in control. I wasn't losing weight to quickly but I felt so much better physically.
I have also reduced my carb intake. I started at the beginning of March and have kept my carb counts below 100 grams per day. It's not keto but it's lower carb than I have ever done. I've eliminated sugar and breads and I've lost 13 pounds in the last 6 weeks. So, I am back again - and looking forward to the following year.
