Aspire to Inspire Week 2 Blog - Zoos

Sunday, April 14, 2019

Another of our blog assignments for this week for the Aspire to Inspire BSG challenge was: April 8th is Zoo Lovers Day. Zoos have been around for thousands of years. A zoo was originally called a "menagerie". In some form, menageries have been around since ancient times. The earliest recording was around 1500 B.C.!! Do you like to visit zoos? Have you been to many? If so, what is your favorite zoo to visit?

I have always enjoyed going to the zoo. Some of the zoos I have enjoyed visiting were:

When my kids were young we often took our vacations in California and would usually visit the Zoo at Fresno. I haven't been there for many years, but when we visited it, it was a good time for the kids as the parents.

When the kids were in their teens we visited the Oregon Zoo in Portland.

When my middle grandson turned 9 we were visiting and we all went to the San Diego Zoo
and we all had a wonderful time.

Once when Bill and I were visiting his son and daughter-in-law we went to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, Washington.

When visiting all of the zoos one of my favorite places to visit are:

In the 1970's we lived in a small town near where we now live and they opened a drive through park, Wildlife Safari. Wildlife Safari is dedicated to conservation, education and research of native and exotic wildlife. It is their commitment to educate the public about the status of animals around the world. zoo where the animals live in their natural habitats. I have really enjoyed visiting this over the years. In addition to the drive through portion there is another area where the kids can feed the birds and a few other animals which my friend's granddaughter loves visiting.

Once while visiting the Wildlife Safari with my friend and her grand kids we had a fun experience visiting the hippopotamus exhibit, and we were all laughing so hard.
