This is my last Friday at work before the trip. 2 Mondays, 2 Tuesdays, 1 Wednesday and 1 Thursday. Since my boss asked me to connect just in case there are some problems with the apps I've developped, the company is paying for my connection to internet while on the ship. Nice perk is that it will allow me to continue the ITC's (biggest loser spring challenge) while on the ship. I won't be able to weight-in but I'll do the challenges. Everything for the team! Go Go Tigers!
This weekend is the last left to shop for anything that is missing. Next weekend is Easter weekend plus we have to make sure everything is clean for the sitter. We're lucky to have a sitter for the dogs and the house.
I've been going to the gym at least 2 times a week. Sometimes 3. When I get back I'll try to aim for at least 3. I now find more reasons to walk so my average per week is going up! I now average at least 8000 steps a day. The little challenges I get from the biggest loser spring challenge are also helping me do a bit more.
I find that having set small changes and being able to maintain them motivates me to do more. I see the difference between having a scale oriented objective and having multiple tiny objectives. The scale may be going down a lot slower, but I feel so good about myself it is incredible.
I can celebrate the changes instead of beating myself up for not losing what I expected or basically, for not being perfect. Since I am not perfect I kept hating myself and feeling like I was not good at it. All sorts of negative feelings that made me eat even more.
I've been asked :
- Are you on a diet? you look like you lost some weight.
- Not on a diet no.
- But you've lost weight.
- Not much. I may be thinner but not really lighter.
I just want to feel better so I do a bit more than I used to do. I walk more and I try to make it to the gym at least 2 times a week. I now take the bus 3 stops farther than I used to.
I also avoid, as much as possible, food that contains preservatives, palm oil, or any ingredients I can't pronounce and i've switch to organic grains (I can actually digest them!).
I feel a lot better in a lot of ways
- no more acid reflux
- no more abdominal cramps (thanks to the organic grains)
- I can walk faster
- The distances are getting shorter and shorter
- my mood is a lot better
- my knee and my foot are not as painfull
- I can bend and tie my shoes without feeling winded
I can't ask for better proofs that I am doing the right thing for me! And I am proud of myself for all of that and also for having made the change in my mindset.
Life is good whatever happens in it.
Look at it this way : When it snows/rains/..., a lot of people other than yourself are affected by it. You can't stop it from falling down. The only thing you can change is the way you'll let it affect you.
Have a great weekend all!
