Getting out more
Thursday, April 11, 2019
I'm suffering from cabin fever. I enjoy being outdoors, for almost any reason. Currently the only thing getting me out the door is accomplishing errands. That doesn't generally take much time, and doesn't involve much exercise because I live in a very walkable community and everything is withing a mile.
But seeing only the inside of the house, and the view out the windows is simply not much. I can see that I will have to actually plan, and put in the calendar, things like 2 hour bicycle rides, or a visit to a museum or organization I've never seen, or walk around areas of town that I never visit.
Another approach it to be more observant. Pay attention to details that I generally overlook.
These sound like simple things. Only issue, of course, is things that seem urgent! Seem urgent, but really may not be at all urgent. Just taking a moment to write this blog entry is an example of sticking to what I want to do, rather that what I feel I should do.
Good news - I'll be out for a bit today. I need to take my wife on a medical visit to a place I rarely visit on my own. That's new stuff, and involves a short drive. It will help get me out of the house.
