Day 13 - Shopping for better food choices!

Thursday, April 11, 2019

Today I was out of whack. Did not sleep well and I had a lot of errands to run along with errands with my Mother. I drive her since she no longer drives. I made the most out of the shopping day since my mom shops at a leisurely pace. I started looking at food alternatives. The fried chicken became baked chicken. Frozen fried chicken pieces became frozen organic non fried chicken. I stocked up on different veggies. I always shop in a hurry without taking the time to really look at what is in my cart. I kept one fried/baked item which was breaded shrimp and organic baked fries. Also, I noticed I bought less food, but good food. Whole wheat bread freshly baked. Kale salads (prepared). I bought less dairy goods and no baked goods other than the bread. I also bought a big package of cranberry raisens (or crasins) to put in our oatmeal in the morning. Just a little tired of the raisens lately. We have been on an oatmeal kick lately and I try to add different things to the oatmeal everyday. I did exercise very late but I was dragging. I did 6000 steps including 3000 of them for exercise. Just tired. Tomorrow is a brand new day!

Life can be just plain tiring!

Incidentally I add craisins AFTER the oatmeal is cooked (normally I add raisins into the oatmeal BEFORE- they plump better that way).... it seems to me that craisins lose much of their flavor in the cooking... ANOTHER additive for oatmeal I use all the time is 1 Tablespoon chia seeds (added BEFORE absorbs more fluid)... I eat oatmeal almost every morning.
