One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

After two weeks without my wrist brace, five days wrestling with severe pain (9/10 on the pain scale), unexpected hand/wrist swelling and a frantic call to my orthopedist, I'm now back in the brace. The doctor also gave me pain medication, which I turned down at my original appointment in February. That was a dumb move on my part but I hate taking any extra medication. Oh well...keep moving forward.
I have an MRI scheduled for this Thursday, which will determine what kind of surgery I will need. My follow up (for MRI results and treatment planning) with the orthopedist is on April 22nd. It just seems like the follow up appointment is so far off! But...if I take into consideration the holidays, it really is pretty reasonable. I just feel grumpy!
On a more positive note, my original wrist injury was in the spring of 2004, so I've gotten an additional 15 good years out of my wrist. Not too shabby as these things go! I've really babied the wrist along all of those years. It remains to be seen just what is causing all of the pain and swelling.
I'm doing one handed typing so my participation here on SP will probably fall off some. Please know that I'll be reading your blogs, just not doing a lot of typing.
