Malaga, Granada and the Alhambra
Sunday, March 31, 2019
We toured Malaga on Spain’s Costa del Sol. We enjoyed touring the Picasso museum, filled with items from the artists personal collection. No photos were allowed. Malaga was very crowded and busy because of a film festival.
Linda and I both posed with a street artist , Newspaper Man.
Our walking tour of Malaga took us below Al Cazaba, a medieval Moorish fort.
And past the Roman ruins.
Cathedral and Plaza del Obispo
The next day, we drove to Granada. We walked to the main plaza, and exploded the narrow streets of the souk (Moroccan market)
An absolute highlight of our trip was visiting the Alhambra, a medieval Moorish castle and fortress. We toured the gardens, the Summer Palace, and is the palace. I was so impressed by the beauty Of the Alhambra and the views of Grenada.
Tile and plaster details
Words and photos cannot do the Alhambra justice. It is magnificent (but also very crowded). When I returned home, I went to my bookcase and found my photo guidebook to the Alhambra. I purchased the book when I visited there as a student. I was 17 years old, and have saved that photo book for 50 years because the beauty of the Alhambra is magical.
