March Updates from February Postings

March Updates from February's posting

1.) My AIC dropped a full 1 point from 6.6 to 5.6 since my last lab work that was completed. That by the way is a good thing since my insurance company has decided they do not want to pay for my Trulicity anymore. Trulicity is an eppi-pen once a week into your stomach that stimulates the pancreas into working. It is not insulin. That was the only med I was taking to keep my sugar under control. They will pay for it as long as I meet my $3,000 deductible. I will still be responsible for $80 of that which is far better then $877 which is the normal monthly cost. I will be talking to the doctor again about this in March when I go back.

Update: When I went to see the doc this month I was worried about my blood sugars rising. She feels that even if it reaches 150 it's no need for concern because my AIC has stayed down. We have decided to recheck in May to see if it continues to do well. So...for now...no meds. WooHoo!

2.) I had my first set of injections in the lower part of my back after having an MRI that showed arthritis and stenosis (narrowing) from L1 thru L5 and at S1. That is why I have a pinched sciatic nerve. On Tuesday my first set of injections was from L4 to S1. In March I will have L1 - L3 completed. To say the least I have already seen some results with less pain. I'm not sure how long this will last, but I'm thankful for this reprieve.

Update: I had to cancel my injections for March 19. My insurance is refusing to pay for the first set. Since that was $3,500 I've been forced to stop them. My insurance which is MedMutal of Ohio MedFlex, HMO made us choose a hospital. I went with Mercy Hospital due to having a Mercy affiliated hospital in my hometown. Well...it appears that a Mercy Affiliate does not qualify as a Mercy hospital. They've refused everything I've had done so far. Doc apts, lab work and the injections. So far this is about $5000 that I have to figure out a way to pay for. I'm not happy.

3.) My deceased brother-in-law's probate hearing is March 13 @ 9 am. This will determine if you know who gets his retirement money, his house and his vehicles along with any of the contents of the house which included my sister's personal belongings. Please continue to pray about this situation. If you've read any of my previous posts this person does not deserve any of Bobby's stuff. PERIOD.

Update: This probate hearing was canceled. Her lawyer quit on her. She hired a new one and instead of this going through a probate proceeder she wants a mediation hearing. That has been scheduled for 3/22/19. I say anything she has sold out from underneath the estate should be her payment for what has happened and she should get nothing else. Not his house, his land or his money. That should all go to his two brothers who are next in line. Nothing is all I can say she deserves.

4.) I have continued to maintain the 6 lbs I lost in January. I feel myself getting stronger with the exercise I am able to do again. It's not coming off fast but if I can maintain I'm happy as well because there are still little things going on in the background.

Update: On Friday March 8th I decided to go on weight watchers. I am doing it on line. My insurance will reimburse up to $150 a year whether it's on line or meetings. I have already dropped 7 lbs. So my total weight loss since the beginning of the year has been 13 lbs. I'll take that.

Just for kicks ~

Have a blessed day ~ emoticon ~ Donna

Amazing work! Insurances seem to want to work against us a lot of times. Mine, it's Repatha. I can't take statins and REPATHA works great! The "talks" come more often as you get older it seems. Does the insulin company have any programs? emoticon

It's nice to hear you are keeping the weight loss.
But all the other struggles you are going through , angers me that
health care and insurance is not the same in all states.
I found that out when I moved from Oregon to Florida .
I couldn't afford some things in Oregon.
But in Florida I have everything and more , no cost. It's like night and day.
There has to be change , it shouldn't be so difficult to get the help a person needs with
out going broke and adding to the stress one is already going through.
I wish you all the best and hope the future gets better in every way.
    Spark on.

I can not believe Insurance companies can e so stupid and so unwilling to pay for anything I wish that we could do something about it but such is life they control that part

I hope that the probate thing comes out good for you

Oh my gosh! So glad that your A1C dropped! That’s fantastic. NOT so fantastic the way your insurer is handling your medical bills. Jeez!

OH man. That woman is really a piece of work. I can’t say much, either, about the 2nd lawyer she hired. Sounds like at least the 1st one saw the writing on the wall. Prayers continue.

emoticon emoticon emoticon No BP Meds - AWESOME! Great that you are maintaining that weight loss too!
Praying about March 22....I so hope that the mediation goes well but if it doesn't, a judge is still an option. Too bad jail isn't!

All I can say regarding your BIL is that this "woman?" deserves NOTHING … but an investigation into HER. This stinks to high Heaven! Congrats on maintaining a six pound drop!! emoticon

A lot has happened, some good and some not, but life moves through the dark times and you are getting more in the light regarding your health. Congrats on getting your A1C down and joining WW, I go to meetings and really enjoy the group dynamics, so keep that option open.

I am sure you have talked to your insurance company, strange they didn't let you know about the hospital right away. Keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine.
