Just Do It!

Friday, March 15, 2019

I'm learning to forget about my good intentions because they seem to go nowhere. Instead, when a good health decision enters my mind, I'm telling myself; "Just do It!" and, before I can think about it at's done.

If I hesitate, my mind starts arguing with me and comes up with all kinds of reasonable complaints about why I shouldn't have to do this or do that. Worse, it thinks up things to do that would inevitably reverse my progress. You see, I have an active mind; a bit like an unruly child...but I can distract it...challenge it...focus it...make it accountable and then enjoy the confidence that comes in knowing that I will reach my health goals eventually.

I've a mountain to move...a real mountain, but all I need be concerned with is the very next step. Just one step at a time, one choice at a time, one moment at a time and one day at a time. It takes a miracle to move a mountain and I'm finding that this miracle is actually happening, through faith in the process that I'm undertaking...that it will work and is working, slowly but surely.

Let's just do it!

    Love it!
This blog reminds me of a decluttering blog called A Slob Comes Clean. In it, she doesn't tell you how to organize things perfectly, she leads you step-by-step on how to deal with clutter that is absolutely so overwhelming to face. She breaks everything down into steps, and she does it without making bigger messes, so you can stop working at anytime without seeing piles in the middle of the room that need to be dealt with later. She often says stuff like, "If you know where it goes, stop what you're doing, and TAKE IT THERE RIGHT NOW." She helps you avoid procrastination by giving you a different perspective. She's really worth checking out.

Great attitude! Just make the next best choice and keep doing that and you're on your way. Get out of your own way, that's what we all have to do. And if and when we do make a bad choice then have our own backs and forgive ourselves try to figure out why we did that and move on but whatever you do don't beat yourself up about it. Sounds like you have a great attitude and you will go far! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I completely agree! If I focus entirely on the big picture I get overwhelmed, but if I just do the next workout, the next... whatever healthy decision, without letting my brain argue or rationalize... I get so much more done, and make more progress.
