I like puns ... and cookies, and ice cream and cakes and bread etc. I realize that for the moment I cannot have those things in the house because I do not exercise any control and I do not exercise on a regular basis. I try, I start, I stop, I start again. I do not want to end up like my parents - depending on medications not to live but to subsist. My goal is to change my bad habits by learning the following good habits:
1) to eat slowly and taste and enjoy my food. By eating slower, I will give my brain a chance to catch up with my stomach and realize I am full before I have stuffed myself.
2) Enjoy uninterrupted sleep - Begin a night time ritual where I tear myself away from the TV and read, enjoy a cup of tea, put on my pajamas, wash my face and brush my teeth, play some soft music very low for about 15 minutes and drift off to sleep.
3) Exercise every day - yes, you heard me right - it doesn't have to be a sixty minute hard work out - it can be a 60 minute walk or an hour long Yoga class or a fun Zumba class but I need to keep active. I do not want to walk with a walker or be pushed in a wheel chair.
4) Be more social - I have a million excuses why I don't go places. It is not because I am not invited, but because it is easier to not do anything and just stay home. I am a little anxious about going somewhere by myself, but truth be told... so is everyone else.

I have given up all sweets for Lent and so far have succeeded.I brought my workout clothes to work as we have a fitness center here I can use after work. I walked at lunch time and combined it with an errand. We are having a biometric test at work next week where our blood pressure, total cholesterol, height, weight, waist circumference, and blood sugar will be measured. I know my numbers will not be good, but I know that with SparkPeople and a some perseverance on my part, I should be able to get back to healthy levels and keep them there. I want to be healthy I want to feel healthy and I want to look healthy. emoticon
