March 11, 2019 WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND?

Many of us think without thinking. We have such a routine in our minds so we aren’t controlling our thoughts at all. We get up and think about what we don’t want to do rather than thinking about what great things are going to happen. We allow our minds to get distracted or, even worse, stir us up into a frenzy of anxiety about something that hasn’t even happened yet. God doesn’t want our minds to be filled with worry and worldly things. He wants us to fix our minds on Him and great things. He wants our minds to be at rest and they can be if we focus on Him rather than this world.

Philippians 4:8 “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” (NLT)

1. Write down what you think about most.
2. List thoughts you have are not about good things.
3. Know God wants you to fix your thoughts on Him.
4. Get into His word and fill your mind with how great He is.

Dear Lord, we pray You will help us to remember to always fix our thoughts on You. Focusing on You will help us to have better thoughts. Filling our minds with Your word will remind us of Your promises, Your love and Your greatness. We want Your Holy Spirit to keep our thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and admirable. Help us remember to stay in Your word knowing it is filled with things we should keep our focus on. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Rebellious thoughts keep us away from thinking about God.

2 Corinthians 10:5 “We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” (NLT)

When we put God’s good word in our minds, we will have thoughts that are pleasing to Him.

Hosea 10:12 “I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’” (NLT)

Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (NIV)

Proverbs 23:7a “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” (KJV)
