Thought and Prayer for Thursday, March 7, 2019

Thursday, March 07, 2019

It doesn’t take very long to see the wickedness in this world. Stories of malicious people are on the news, Internet and even in movies. Focusing on this world will turn our minds and hearts dark because this world is full of evil. However, focusing on God and His goodness will remind us of who we truly are. We are God’s creation. When we focus on His goodness and love, we can rest knowing He is with us and wants to protect us from this evil world. God’s unfailing love is proven over and over again in His word and in the lives of those who truly follow and obey Him. His goodness and mercy can follow us all the days of our lives if we put our trust in Him.

Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (ESV)

1. Write how you focus on God’s goodness.
2. List ways people can be pulled into the evil of this world.
3. Know God wants you to remember He is good and merciful.
4. Stay focused on Him and He will give you rest.

Dear Lord, we are so saddened by the actions of some people in this world. We can clearly see this world is not where we need to place our focus to find rest. This world is full of evil, turmoil and sickness. Help us remember to keep our focus on You and Your word today and every day. We know Your goodness and mercy are promised to us all the days of our lives. And we thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God’s goodness is for our protection, comfort and rest.

Psalm 31:19 “How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.” (NLT)

We can rejoice in God’s goodness knowing His love and mercy is all we need.

Isaiah 63:7 “I will tell of the Lord’s unfailing love. I will praise the Lord for all he has done. I will rejoice in his great goodness to Israel, which he has granted according to his mercy and love.” (NLT)

“Focusing on God’s goodness is so important to your life because it gives you perspective on your darkest days, when you need it the most. When you forget God’s goodness, it causes all kinds of difficulties.” ~Pastor Rick Warren

Psalm 100:5 “For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.” (NLT)
