Pyramids

Pyramids - NO not like the ones in Egypt but the exercise routine.

Today my workout partner, Jane, and I did a multiple pyramid workout using the large muscles of the body.

Each pyramid consist of three different weight amounts and three different levels of difficulty. For example, on the seated Lat Pull Down machine, for the first level of the pyramid we started off doing 12 repetitions at a weight of 45 lbs. The next level of the pyramid was doing 6 repetitions at a weight of 60 lbs. The last level of the pyramid is doing 3 repetitions at a weight of 75 lbs. We rest for a total of 10 seconds and then we travel back "down the pyramid" so = 3 reps at 75 6 reps at 60 and 12 reps at 45. It is a total of 42 reps in each pyramid and we did a total of three complete pyramids (126 reps total). We repeated this program for the seated chest press machine (30, 45, 60 lbs), then goblet squats (5, 7.5, 12.5 lbs) and finally, dead lifts (again 5, 7.5, and 12.5 lbs) It's ALOT of reps and a load of work! I am feeling it already and I usually suffer from DOMS. WOW! I can't wait to see how I feel on Wednesday. Did I mention that we did 40 minutes on the elliptical before we lifted and then finished our workout with a quick 10 miles (30 minutes) on the upright bikes?! Oh Yeah! Momma's gonna feel this on Wednesday. Tomorrow we will probably just do arm ballet (a light weight, heaving reps) arm workout, then a 60 minutes (or so!) spin class.

Did I mention Wednesday? I did! Of course, it's my "rest" day. Can you guess what I'll be doing? If you said resting, you were wrong. DH hurt his knee two weeks ago and his surgery is on Wednesday. I get to play nurse maid! Wish me luck emoticon

I might sound as though I am complaining but I'm not. I am actually very proud of all my hard work this year. I have been keeping consistent track of my food intake and I am happy to report a 5.5lb loss since Jan 1. My sugar addiction is under control...most of the time. But more importantly is the fact that my body shape is changing. My pants are getting too big. I am feeling better even though my muscles are sore most of the time!

DH and I have planned for two "supported" long rides this year. One is from north of Jim Thorpe, PA, all the way to NJ. The other is in the state of Georgia! I can't wait to the weather to get better. I am so ready to get on my bike and ride!

Until late.... emoticon
