The Twilight Zone (long and rambling)

Wednesday, February 27, 2019

The doctor is increasing my Zoloft, since the current dose isn't doing anything. Hopefully this will provide some help. I'm sick to death of feeling like this.

Monday I was knitting in my room and a CNA came in with a big smile and asked me to make something for her baby! I told her I don't knit for money, but she wouldn't let it go. She even said at one point, "we'll talk about it later." It took several tries to get her to go away. I reported her to the charge nurse, who said he'd refer it to the Director of Staffing (passing the buck much?). I am not a vending machine that pops these things out on command. It's my hobby and I love doing it, but it's still a LOT of work. I encounter people like her all the time. I knit for family, friends and charity, PERIOD. Oh yes, and for myself.

This is probably a petty rant, but it bugs me. I chatter endlessly about my two great-nieces, Angie and Elizabeth. I talk to my ex frequently because we have a disabled son together. Whenever I mention little Elizabeth, he says, "Huh? Who?" Monday I told him I'm doing my annual project knitting preemie hats in Elizabeth's honor, since she's a 74-day NICU veteran. He said, "Elizabeth? No, you mean Margaret (our daughter)." Margaret was born a month late and weighed almost eleven pounds. She wasn't a preemie by anyone's definition. Whenever I remind him who Elizabeth is, he says she isn't "on my radar screen." I'm not sure how many times I need to remind him that she's important to ME.

My current roommate has severe dementia and doesn't talk very much. She keeps me awake at night fairly frequently, but I know she's not doing it on purpose. In fact, I keep an eye on her so I can call the staff right away if she needs help. Her husband is a retired Army doctor, and obviously still used to being in charge. He has no problem issuing orders to the staff, and even telling me what to do. I know he means well, but I do have several large holes in my tongue.

Yesterday one of my Facebook friends sent me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers!

It was just what I needed.

Meantime, I'm in Facebook jail again. I'm not allowed to post in groups until Sunday morning. I have no idea what I might have done wrong (and they never tell you), except perhaps that someone of the opposite political view might have take offense at one of my political posts. Frustrating, because I love sharing the funny memes and pictures I collect.

More hat knitting today. We've had very stormy weather the last couple of days, so it's perfect for hot coffee and knitting.
