My least favorite part of winter

… is the ice. I know for a fact that I am not the only person who has slipped and fallen on this week’s ice. Thankfully there’s nothing broken except my confidence. The dogs are not any happier about having their feet slide out from under them either (they are too light to break through.) So even though it does not look like it will melt anytime soon, we are resorting to indoor play for the near future.
The details… after a day of misty rain, followed by an hour or two of sunshine, it all froze up as we approached sunset. The ice we received earlier in the week was now glazed to a shiny, smooth, slippery surface. We were returning from a short walk when it happened AND I did have my mini-grippers on AND I was picking my way carefully up the driveway when… Wham Bang… I was down. It was an almost perfect face plant except my face did not hit the surface (thankfully.) Both dogs immediately came to check on me (they are so sweet or else they figured I was on the ground to play with them. That’s exactly what they think when I do my indoor stretches and yoga. They just don’t give up.)
When will I learn?? I have brought my full-size “Yak Trax” inside the house to warm up. Hopefully they will become pliable enough that I can get them on my boots without causing myself injury. Either that or I will have to put them on lighter-weight footwear (not best choice in snow country.)
Enough complainin’… I know I’m not alone so be careful out there!
