Food Anxiety

Thursday, January 17, 2019

I am nervous about this weekend and being able to keep it together. John and I are going to try a new Thai place, and Sunday we're supposed to have a birthday party for one of my friends. None of these restaurants have nutrition info listed on their websites.

The thing I want from the Thai place is called Tuptim Passion. It is a combo of shrimp, scallop, mussel, crab, squid, chicken, pork, beef, green bean, eggplant, and Kaffir leaf in fiery red-curry spice. I can't find a calorie count anywhere for this dish! I already know, divide it in half and box up half before eating, I won't eat the rice that comes with it, but I'd like to be able to at least track the calories, even though I'm sure they'll be outrageous. Not tracking leads to binging.

Sunday is a party for a skinny friend who NEEDS to eat because she's underweight. So I'm trying to balance my needs with her needs, and it's her birthday, so I'm thinking pizza and ice cream, but trying to find something I can eat with that, and finding the nutrition info, it's becoming a major headache.

Eating healthy, following my food plan, it's very difficult for me, and this is why I give up after 2-3 days, usually on the weekend, or when someone brings junk food to work. I don't want to give up anymore. I want to find a solution that works.

Commit your food and stick with it. Avoid your binge foods.

Most important enjoy the people it’s about them not the food

If you want to stick with Pizza... do so but also have large green/garden salad bowl with dressings on side and you stick to one slice of pizza and then fill plate with salad and limit dressing or use lemon juice squeezed on salad on plate for dressing. Have fresh fruit platter in addition of ice cream... just because the ice cream is there does not mean you have to eat it or just take one bite from boyfriend and then concentrate on eating fruit instead.

Go ahead of time to Thai place and ask for manager and ask specifics as to how much of each item ... ounces or teaspoons etc are in dish and then go home and figure out calories as best as you can. Take pencil/paper to write it all down as memory will not suffice

For the party, why not do a taco or fajita bar. That way people can indulge in some tasty Mexican but you can stick to grilled fajita chicken and veggies or whatever is on your plan.
