We Can All Have Regain- How To Keep Losing

It’s easy to give up when you see the scale start to creep up and you start to doubt yourself. Are you going to gain ALL your weight back and then some again? It’s so humiliating, even more than being overweight in the first place- regain, the feeling of failure and shame.

Don’t let that scale dictate what you are going to do! It isn’t a little god! YOU are in control and YOU CAN turn it around.

First of all, don’t say “I lost X pounds but gained y pounds back.” Just say how many pounds you’ve currently lost. Own where you’re at.

Secondly, reset your SPARKPEOPLE weight goal to maybe 1-1.5 pounds per week loss. Why, it gives you a rate you can live with. You can go out to dinner and have a snack or two- less misery and it updates your calories etc to your new weight. Refreshing your goal every 10-15 pounds helps.

Stay focused on the present. What you did half an hour ago (binge) should not dictate the rest of your day. Ride the rest of the day out healthy. You blew it? So what? Get back on the horse instead of sitting in the mud.

Realize that everyone has periods of regain. It is normal and not a sentencing to gain all of your weight back.
