I... AM... A... RUNNER!

I have to keep reminding myself of this lately. 2018 wasn't my finest year. I started on a downward spiral in 2017 after finding out my husband had cancer. It carried over to 2018. And even though he was done with chemo in April, I found myself at times unmotivated and in a bad situation of not caring about my own health.

The result... gaining way too much weight, not feeling good about myself, and not doing the things that I once loved.

I LOVE to run! It runs deep in my soul and is something I always enjoyed doing. With gaining back so much weight I tried changing things up in late summer and fall. In turn I actually started running less. Lately I am lucky if I fit in a run during the week at all.

What happened???

But there have been so many signs lately for me that I have to get back to what I love to do. The first sign came a few weeks ago when a friend told me that she was so inspired by me running my marathon that she started running herself. She ran her first 5k and now wants to try for a longer race. All because of me!

Then today I had an older gentleman that has always talked to me at the gym regarding my running asked how I have been doing lately. He asked me if I have been out on the roads running. When I said "not so much", he says to me "Don't give up on it, you are a great runner! Keep running!".

It felt so good to hear that!

Then after my workout I ran into my old running partner. We haven't run with each other since the summer. It was fate! We talked and decided we are going to start running together next week.

I have all these signs pushing me back into what I love to do. Now I just need to keep up the motivation to do it!

I may not be as fast as I used to be. Or I might not be able to run as far as I have before. But darn it... I am a runner! I am going to get back to my passion!
