Winter Walks

Friday, January 04, 2019

Today I am grateful that I can walk three miles every morning, and even if I am bundled up like I'm in a blizzard (I'm not, but the wind is COLD), I will just waddle my happy little behind to my three morning miles no matter what! So far, the only days I've missed were when I was so sick I made my doctor tell me I had to rest (because I know I won't without being told) and when we actually did have a blizzard (so I shoveled snow!).

It AMAZES me how happy it makes me to commit to that walk every day of the week. Most days, I also do a 30-45 min walk every lunch, too, but my commitment is getting a minimum of 5 miles in every day, and I've made that happen (wow! that was me!) for more than six months now! The meditation I practice while I walk also makes me so much more at peace. I'm so grateful I found "the thing" that works well for my health and peace of mind!

Blessed be!

So proud of you doing your walks every day. I always go for 30 mins sometimes 60 mins. Depends on my time.

Wow! I am impressed. Daisy and I got out yesterday for the first time in over a week. Our weather has been kind of awful with snow, then rain, then everything froze (too icy even for Daisy to walk safely) and then below zero temps with high winds, then more snow. So it felt really good to both of us for getting that walk in. I miss my early morning walks (too dark and cold now) because I just did it period! It looks like we've got a run of 30 degree days with sunshine so more walking is in order! I feel the same way, the walking seems to calm me more than anything else!

emoticon Good for you!! I also live where winter is winter and give you tons of credit for your daily walks!! So far this winter has been short on snow (we usually average aroud 125") and the temps on a roller coaster. This is usually our coldest time of year but here we sit in the mid-30s today. So, in truth, I have no excuse!! Have two small dogs who do get me outside every day but no distance of substance. I love to walk but am a fair weather walker I'm afraid.

Yes, walking keeps me sane. That is, I maintain whatever little sanity remains. (smiling)
