2018 A year in review

Saturday, December 29, 2018

2018 is almost over and once again I find myself thinking of all the things that happened during this year! This is a quick summary of my important events in 2018!!!

Jan. 1 at the stroke of midnight my oldest son Roger proposed to his girlfriend and she said "YES". This was a great beginning for a year that had ended with the passing of my mom and my father-in-law.

Jan. 22 my DH gained guardianship of his mom and we were able to move her to a nursing home much closer to us. So now we are closer and in charge of her welfare. This has been a bit of an adjustment for her but we are working through it day by day.

May- I reached my goal weight and I felt that I had accomplished something for my self through all the adversaries that I encounter day in and day out. I did it and now the hard part to maintain. This part is much harder but I am really committed!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

June 2018 - My youngest son decides to move to California emoticon to continue to work on his masters and hopefully find a job. This was a brave decision on his part and we supported him (even though my heart was breaking). So we took a trip to California to look for living and to get him registered for classes. Everything was looking great and he was very exited about the move.

July 2018 - My MIL falls and breaks her hip - surgery required and I was by her bedside 24/7 for about a month. This because I was on vacation and my DH needed to work. Then at the end of that month we had to move my son to California. emoticon emoticon emoticon

August - Started school (work) again so between work and my MIL had no time for myself but I was still at my weight!!!! emoticon emoticon I had papers to grade, lesson plans to do and after school activities. So life just continued.

November - My DH and I planned to go to Arizona to visit friends and have my son fly in from California for Thanksgiving so that he would not be alone. So tickets in hand we left for a week of rest and fun.

Meanwhile my son in California is not having any luck with work and it seems the program he got into was not what he wanted - so after much thought and stressful days for him with his anxiety level getting worse he spoke to us and decided that he needed to come back to Florida to be closer to his support system (us). this was not an easy decision but once again he has had some medical issues and we did not want him out there alone and suffering so we let him know that we agree that he should be home. He would finish the semester and come back in December.

December - My DH flies to California to drive back with my son. It took them 4 long days but they finally arrived safe and sound.

December 20-29 My son from Delaware, the one that got engaged in Jan., comes home to spend Christmas with us. He also tells us that they have decided to get married on July 20, 2018 in Florida. It was awesome having him home for Christmas, we had so much fun and we were able to do so many things as a family. He stayed as late as he could today (12/29) to celebrate his dad's birthday. ---- emoticon
Now I sit here thinking of him because we left him at the airport to fly back home!!! emoticon However, I am really excited about the upcoming wedding!!! emoticon He will return with his fiancee in April to finalize details of venue, etc.

So as I look back I thank God for all the good and pray that 2019 will be a year full of peace, hope, love and happiness.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY SPARK FRIENDS!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm sorry that school/job hunting in California didn't work out for your son, but I'm so happy that you have him near you again instead of clear across the country.
