Well, I am no longer doing a tree. I think when DD's ex moved out he may have taken the one in the basement. Which I don't mind. It's just me and my cat Rosie, and we all know about cats and Christmas trees.
I do, however, have an old Nativity set that I'd made for my Mom, and inherited it back. Some of the figures have suffered a bit of damage - again, cats, knocking boxes off shelves - but it's mostly hidden by the fake evergreen garland. Close-up you see Joseph's and Mary's injuries...
but not so much if you step back a bit.
Yesterday I was originally going to make Christmas cookies with my friend-who's-more-like-a-siste
r, Deb. But she had to cancel due to intestinal issues, and I didn't want to risk getting sick just before my trip to visit DD.
So I made the double batch of the old family recipe for sugar cookies (only change is, I double the flavoring - vanilla or almond, in this case, almond) Of course I'm taking most down to my daughter and grandkids, and giving a lot away, because if I don't...
Because it was Saturday, it was also "CRAFTurday" so I underglazed what I'd made the previous 2 weeks (except the giraffes - they're so leggy and necky, I figured I'd fire them first) and fired them. I have to glaze them today (except the giraffes, which would take too long to paint their spots first, so they are on hold - like the peacocks!)
Then I'll fire them again. Meanwhile, I will also be frosting the cookies.
Yesterday I also did a little shopping as Secret Santa to one of my coworkers. Fortunately, when we put in our names, we also give a little hint, like favorite colors, where you like to get your coffee, favorite candies...So I got a Dunkin Donut gift card
and a BLUE water bottle, 'cause her favorite color is blue and her favorite beverage is water...
She listed her favorite candy as Red Hots. Kinda surprised ME...I'm for dark chocolate.
I am also giving her one of my tiny things, a bluebird, because bluebirds are...well..BLUE.
How are YOUR Christmas plans coming?
