I pay my parents $500 each month for my share of the rent, groceries, toilet paper, utilities, and laundry money (we live in an apartment). I pay for our internet because I get a discount since I'm disabled.

I thought I only spend $500 on everything else, including groceries (just for me like for work lunches), household supplies, and eating out. However, I checked my accounts last night, and was shocked at how much I have already spent this month! But my mom's birthday was yesterday, so I gave her $100, and also paid for her Paradise Cake, and Panda Express for my parents for dinner. I also take my parents out to eat a lot (about once a week), and it's shocking how quickly it all adds up. To make things worse, I treat myself a lot to (non-alcoholic) drinks like coffee and milk tea when I am out. I do almost always bring my lunch to work, but I treat myself to lunch out about once a week, as I get tired of eating the same food at work. I really want to reign in my spending, so I can save more money; I feel like my checking and savings accounts are growing too slowly. I admit that I eat out way too much. I need to cook more!

That said, my mom is a quasi-hoarder! Our refrigerator is jam packed with food, so it's hard to take anything out! I can't live like this! I've asked her, and I've prayed, but she won't change. I think it got worse when my parents started hitting up food banks a few months ago...she just won't throw anything away!
