Last night I attended a cocktail party given by one of my dearest friend I have known for years and years. I wasn’t exactly thrilled to go to be honest with you, but I thought since I committed, I needed to show up.
I am glad I did.
Her home is elegant. Wendi has a creative eye as well as a wonderful taste in color, fabric and décor. She decorated her home beautifully for the party, not holiday garish by any means, but just in a spectacular well thought out designer way.
Her large indoor trees, (not xmas trees) were all wrapped delicately with fairy lights that twinkled gently throughout the night. Candles were lit everywhere. Greenery lined her magnificent mantle adorned with again, floating candles in lovely glass vases of different shapes. Elegant and simply simple as well as done is exquisite taste.
The affair was catered by handsome waiters who were constantly swirling around serving platters of hors deurves throughout the evening. Ahi Tuna wrapped in seaweed with an incredible wasabi dressing was one of my favorites. Another one was moo shu chicken rolled in lettuce leaves that you can dip in a wonderful soy sauce. The food was not only tastefully done; the platters were beautiful.
An open bar was offered at each end of the great room where the party was held. My favorite was a freshly squeezed grapefruit drink with a splash of sparkling water and cranberry juice. I just love the combination.
The conversation flowed. I felt good and wore a knee length black straight skirt with black tights and black ankle booties. My off the shoulder gray sweater sparkled so I looked the part as being in the holiday spirit.
All in all, the party was lovely. I enjoyed meeting new people, I saw some friends I hadn’t seen in ages who I invited to my humble abode for a meal after the holidays.
As much as I hesitated going to this event, I am glad I did. It is important to show up especially when you commit to something; you just never know what the outcome will be. You may even enjoy yourself after all….! ;o)
